By the invitation of Prof. Guangxin Liang, Prof. Chris Beaudry from Oregon State University visited the SKLEOC on July 12th, 2008. Prof. Beaudry had in depth academic discussions with part of the faculty members and students, and gave a speech entitled “Unraveled Aromatic Rings in Chemical Synthesis” at the lecture hall of Shixian Building at 4:00 PM. In his talk, Prof. Beaudry systematically introduced his group’s work on the novel constructions of aromatic systems.
Prof. Chris Beaudry received bachelor degrees of chemistry and mathematics from University of Wisconsin-Madison. He obtained his Ph.D. degree at UC Berkeley under the supervision of Prof. Dirk Trauner, after which he joined Prof. Larry Overman’s group at UC Irvine for postdoctoral research. He started his independent career in Oregon State University in 2009. Prof. Beaudry’s primary research interests include synthetic organic chemistry, natural product chemistry, biology and catalysis.
