The 7th EOC Symposium of the State Key Laboratory of Elemento-Organic Chemistry was held in the lecture hall on the second floor of the Shixian Building from July 10 to 11, 2021, with more than 200 students and faculty members attending the forum offline and more than 12,000 people watching and interacting with the conference live online.
The theme of the Symposium was "Biological Macromolecules: Synthesis and Applications", and Prof. Gong Chen and Prof. Chuanzheng Zhou from the SKLEOC were the chairs of the forum. Professors Peter Schultz from Johns Hopkins University, Marc Greengberg from Johns Hopkins University, James Chou from Harvard University, Andrei Yudin from University of Toronto, Canada, Christian Hackenberger from Leibniz Institute of Molecular Pharmacology, Germany, David Spring from University of Cambridge, UK, Christian Heinis from Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Lausanne, Lucia Banci from University of Florence, Italy, Xinshan Ye and Tao liu from Peking University, Changlin Tian from University of Science and Technology of China, Jiangyun Wang from Institute of Biophysics of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Hong Liu from Shanghai Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Xiaogang Qu from Changchun Institute of Applied Chemistry of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Chaoyong Yang from Shanghai Jiao Tong University/Xiamen University, Ting Zhu from Tsinghua University, Qi Zhang from Fudan University, and Chuanzheng Zhou from Nankai University gave excellent presentations for this forum. The forum presentations fully demonstrated the latest achievements in the synthesis and application of biomolecules from different perspectives, and promoted the exchange and cooperation among the participants in the field of chemical biology. As a platform for international exchange, this forum has well presented our chemists and their research results in the field of chemical biology in front of international colleagues.
Following the tradition of EOC Symposium, this year's EOC Symposium set up a poster award. Twenty students from the SKLEOC participated in the poster presentations. The offline participating teachers and students had sufficient communication with each other, and each exhibiting student received on-site guidance from the participating guests, and the academic atmosphere was strong. The conference team invited 10 invited presenters who attended the forum offline as judges, and selected 3 outstanding poster awards from 20 exhibited poster. Academician Qilin Zhou from Nankai University, Professor Xinsan Ye from Peking University and Professor Xiaogang Qu from Changchun Institute of Applied Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences presented the three winners, Shuli Guo, Mengtian Ren and Lan Wang, with the prizes and award certificates signed by the offline invited presenters. The poster presentation and the awarding ceremony were the communication and affirmation of the research achievements of the students, which greatly stimulated the enthusiasm of the students in research.
After the award ceremony, Prof. Chuanzheng Zhou delivered a closing speech on behalf of the conference organizing committee, sincerely thanking the invited presenters from home and abroad as well as the offline and online participants for attending the 7th EOC Symposium and enjoying a full and precious academic feast together with the teachers and students of the SKLEOC. The forum was successfully concluded with the warm applause of the participants.
