From April 10 to 11, 2021, Frontier Forum of Elemento-Organic Chemistry organized by the State Key Laboratory of Elemento-organic Chemistry was held in the academic lecture hall of Shixian Building of Balitai campus, Nankai University. Prof. Qilin Zhou, academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Prof. Chunming Cui, director of the Key Laboratory, Prof. Zhen Xi, director of the National Engineering Research Center for Pesticides, and Prof. Shoufei Zhu, Dean of the College of Chemistry of Nankai University attended the forum. Nearly 200 representatives of teachers and students from Nankai University and universities in Tianjin attended the forum. The opening ceremony was presided over by Prof. Cui, and then Prof. Zhou delivered an opening speech.
Prof. Zhou extended a warm welcome to the guests firstly. And then he looked forward to strengthen further exchange and cooperation of the teachers and students attending the meeting. He also hoped that young researchers would learn more from the experts of the previous generation.
This forum invited 25 well-known experts and scholars from famous universities and research institutions at home and abroad to make special reports. All the speakers made wonderful reports on the frontier and hot issues in the research fields of synthetic chemistry, biomedicine and functional materials. Their wonderful reports had extensive and deeply exchanges and discussions with the participants.
This year's forum coincides with the Centennial of Nankai Chemistry. The meeting will help to promote the development and integration of elemental organic chemistry and related disciplines, and promote the application of elemental organic molecules in synthetic chemistry, biomedicine, functional materials and other fields.
The forum aims to strengthen the exchange and cooperation among related peers in the field of elemental organic chemistry by focusing on the cutting edge of the discipline so as to strengthen China's competitiveness and international status in this field. This forum gets much support of NSFC, famous universities and research institutes in China and it will be held once a year since 2021.
