The 9th EOC symposium of the State Key Laboratory of Elemento-organic Chemistry (SKLEOC) was held in Tian-Nan Joint Research Building from July 14 to 15. Academician Jun Chen, vice president of Nankai University, attended the opening ceremony of the symposium. More than 80 experts and scholars from seven countries and more than 300 graduate students from 15 universities including Nankai University, Tsinghua University and Nanjing University, attended the symposium. The opening ceremony was presided over by Prof. Mengchun Ye from the Key Laboratory.

Academician Chen delivered an opening speech on behalf of Nankai University and welcomed all the experts and scholars present. Then he briefly introduced the chemistry discipline of Nankai University. He hopes that the attending representatives can efficiently spread new methods and technologies in organic chemistry, strengthen communication and cooperation and make more scientific and technological innovation achievements to benefit the people through this symposium.

The theme of this year's symposium is " Organometallics and Catalysis ", which was chaired by Academician Qilin Zhou and Prof. Chunming Cui of the Key Laboratory. Prof. Hugh M. L. Davies from the Emory University in the United States, Prof. Olivier Baudoin from the University of Basel in Switzerland, Prof. Miquel Costa from the University of Girona in Spain, Prof. Chao Jun Li from McGill University in Canada, Prof. Mamoru Tobisu from Osaka University in Japan, Prof. Guangbin Dong from the University of Chicago in the United States, Prof. Yoshiaki Nakao from the University of Tokyo in Japan, Prof. Ming Joo Koh from the National University of Singapore, Prof. Guosheng Liu from Shanghai Institute of Organic Chemistry, Prof. Zhangjie Shi, from Fudan University, Prof. Changle Chen from University of Science and Technology of China, Prof. Xiaobing Lv from Dalian University of Technology, Prof. Liang Deng from Shanghai Institute of Organic Chemistry, Prof. Shaolin Zhu from Nanjing University, Prof. Senmiao Xu from Lanzhou Institute of Chemical Physics, Prof. Weiwei Zi from Nankai University, Prof. Liangqiu Lu from Central China Normal University, Prof. Rong Zhu from Peking University, Prof. Hang Shi from Westlake University, Prof. Lei Gong from Xiamen University, Prof. Zhenghui Guan from Northwest University, Prof. Zhenbo Mo from Nankai University and other 22 experts were invited to bring wonderful academic reports in the symposium. The report fully showed the latest developments and cutting-edge trends in the field of metal organic and catalytic research domestically and internationally, sparking enthusiastic academic discussions and achieving the goal of promoting deep exchanges and cooperation.

During the display of the wall newspaper, there was sufficient communication among the attendees. The organizing committee invited 7 foreign speakers attended as evaluation experts and selected 4 excellent posters from all 37 participating posters, The wall newspaper display had deepened students' understanding of their own scientific research achievements and the award of the Excellent Wall Newspaper Award was a recognition of their scientific research achievements, which can greatly stimulate their research enthusiasm.

In the end, Prof. Cui Chunming, Director of the SKLEOC, delivered a closing speech on behalf of the organizing committee. He pointed out that this symposium was a precious academic feast and sincerely thanked all the invited speakers and participants. He also hoped that everyone would continue to care about and support the development of the Key Laboratory. This symposium came to a successful conclusion with warm applause from the attendees.
