The 8th EOC symposium of the State Key Laboratory of Elemento-organic Chemistry (SKLEOC) was held from July 9 to 10. The symposium was conducted online with 20 experts and scholars from famous universities and research institutions at home and abroad invited to bring a wonderful cloud-based academic exchange. The symposium was also broadcasted live to the public through the SuiTong Science Cloud and other platforms, with more than 200,000 people in total participating online.

The theme of this year's forum is "Green Pesticides: Development and Application", which was chaired by Prof. zhen Xi, one of the academic leader of the Key Laboratory and the director of the National Pesticide Engineering Center (Tianjin). At the opening ceremony, Xi expressed a warm welcome to the experts on behalf of the Key Laboratory and all the faculty and students of the pesticide discipline. He pointed out that the conference is a great gathering of experts, which will discuss the frontiers of pesticide innovation and development trends. Xi suggested that this year coincides with the 60th anniversary of the Institute of Elemento-organic Chemistry, and this symposium will officially kick off the related commemorative activities.

The first presentation of the forum was brought by academician Xuhong Qian from East China Normal University. Academician Baoan Song from Guizhou University, Prof. Bart Kahr from New York University, Prof. Guangfu Yang from Central China Normal University, Prof. Wensheng Xiang from Northeast Agricultural University, Prof. Qing Yang from the Institute of Plant Protection, Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, Prof. Peng Wang from the Agricultural University of China, Prof. Qing. X. Li from University of Hawaii, Prof. Zhong Li from East China University of Science and Technology, Prof. Qiliang Huang of Institute of Plant Protection, Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, and Prof. Zhijin Fan and Jingxiang Yang from Nankai University. Prof. Huahua Sun, and David Wang, a Specially Appointed Associate Researcher at Nankai University gave wonderful academic presentations for this forum. The presentations showcased the latest research results in the fields of pesticide creation, pesticide environmental toxicology, pesticide biology, pesticide dosage forms, pesticide crystallography, etc., which stimulated the participants' high scientific enthusiasm and triggered lively academic discussions. As a platform for international exchange, this symposium has well presented our chemists and their research achievements in the field of pesticide science in front of international colleagues.

Finally, Professor Chunming Cui, Director of State Key Laboratory of Elemento-organic Chemistry, delivered a closing speech on behalf of the organizing committee. He pointed out that this symposium was a precious academic feast, and sincerely thanked all the invited speakers and participants, expecting that they would continue to care and support the development of the State Key Laboratory of Elemento-organic Chemistry and the discipline of pesticide science at Nankai University.

The symposium was successfully concluded with the warm applause of the participants.
