On May 26th, 2016, “National Symposium on Frontiers in Organic
Supramolecular Chemistry” was convened in the Academic Lecture Hall of the
Synthesis Building of the State Key Laboratory of Elemento-organic Chemistry. Attendees
included Prof. Zhenhe Tong and Prof. Lizhu Wu of the Technical Institute of
Physics and Chemistry CAS, Prof. Chuanfeng Chen of the Institute of Chemistry
CAS, Prof. Meixiang Wang of Tsinghua University, Prof. Zhanting Li of Fudan
University, Prof. Feihe Huang of Zhejiang University, and Prof. Leyong Wang of
Nanjing University among others. Prof. Yu Liu hosted and addressed the opening
ceremony.
After the opening ceremony, invited speakers gave respective talks on
their studies supramolecular structures and functions. Prof. Linqi Shi, Prof.
Zhimou Yang, and Prof. Xiufang Xu of Nankai University addressed the
applications of supramolecular chemistry in the fields of polymers, hydrogels,
biomedicines, and computational chemistry. Prof. Meixiang Wang showed the
attendees his latest research achievements in corona [n] arenes. Prof. Chuanfeng
Chen briefed the attendees on the characteristic of triptycene chemistry as
well as his research group’s breakthroughs in spiral aromatic hydrocarbons. Professor
Feihe Huang introduced construction of polymer systems with pillararene and the
system’s biology-related applications. Prof. Lizhu Wu displayed the artificial
simulation system of photosynthesis centers in hydrogen production from water splitting.
At this symposium, experts in the field of supramolecular chemistry
discussed hotly and exchanged ideas with the students on hotspot issues in relevant
research fields. This national symposium on frontiers in Organic Supramolecular
Chemistry concluded amid loud applause.
