During April 13rd-14th, 2017, “2017 National Symposium on Frontiers in
Organic Supramolecular Chemistry ” was convened in the Academic Lecture Hall of
the Shixian Building of the State Key Laboratory of Elemento-organic Chemistry.
Invited attendants include Prof. Jinpei Cheng of Nankai University, Prof.
Zhenhe Tong of the Technical Institute of Physics and Chemistry CAS, Prof. He
Tian of East China University of Science and Technology, Prof. Weihai Fang of
Beijing Normal University, Prof. Lizhu Wu of Technical Institute of Physics and
Chemistry CAS, Prof. Chuanfeng Chen of the Institute of Chemistry CAS, Prof.
Meixiang Wang of Tsinghua University, Prof. Zhanting Li and Prof. Junli Hou of
Fudan University, Prof. Feihe Huang of Zhejiang University, and Prof. Leyong
Wang of Nanjing University. Prof. Yu Liu hosted and addressed the opening
ceremony of the symposium.
The symposium was packed with exciting lectures. Prof. Yingming Zhang of
Nankai University briefly addressed his group’s recent progress in the studies
of pKa effects during molecular assembly processes. Prof. Meixiang Wang discussed
their group’s latest discoveries in the field of corona [n] arenes. Prof.
Chuanfeng Chen talked about the characteristic of triptycene chemistry as well
as his research group’s breakthroughs in spiral aromatic hydrocarbons. Prof.
Feihe Huang introduced the construction of polymer systems with pillararene and
its biology-related applications. Professor Jianxin Song demonstrated relevant
work on synthesis of new porphyrins. Prof. Lizhu Wu displayed the application
of artificial situmlated photosynthesis center in hydrogen production from water.
The invited speakers had great discussions with attending students and
faculty members. The National Symposium on Frontiers in Organic Supramolecular
Chemistry concluded in loud applause.
