On November 22nd, 2016, Prof. Mitsuo Kira of Tohoku
University, well-established figure organo silicon chemistry, paid a visit to the
SKLEOC at the invitation of Prof. of SKLEOC Chunming Cui. He made a report
titled “new reactions of stable dialkyltetrylenes” in the Academic Lecture Hall
of the Institute of Elemento-organic Chemistry at 16:00 p.m.
In his report, Prof. Kira illustrated his group’s representative
achievements in the studies of the properties of total carbon silicone,
germylene, and stannylene. After the report, the attending audience had in-depth
discussion with Prof. Kira on the special coordination ability and reactions of
total carbon silicone.
Professor Mitsuo Kira obtained his PhD from Tohoku University in 1974.
In 1977, he was engaged in the postdoctoral work in Goethe University Frankfurt
in the name of Humboldt Research Fellowship. After that, he became a professor at
Tohoku University. As a world renowned organo silicon chemist, Prof. Mitsuo Kira
specializes in the studies of organic silicon, germanium, and tin chemistry, as
well as the studies of polysilanes, and the structures and reactivities of stable
unsaturated group-14 organometallic compounds.
