On June 6th of 2019, Prof. Eiichi Nakamura
of the University of Tokyo paid visit to the SKLEOC by the invitation of Prof.
Qilin Zhou. Prof. Nakamura’s visit began with academic discussions with various
faculties and students of the institute. At the 4:30 PM he gave a talk entitled
“Iron Catalysis for Organic Synthesis” at the Lecture Hall of Shixian Building.
During the lecture he thoroughly his group’s advances in the synthetic
chemistry involving iron catalysis.
Prof. Eiichi Nakamura received his Ph.D. degree
from the Tokyo Institute of Technology in 1978. From 1978-1980 he was a postdoc
at Columbia University. He then became an assistant professor in 1980 at the
Tokyo Institute of Technology, and was promoted to full professor in 1993. He
joined Tokyo University in 1995 and stayed ever since. Prof. Eiichi Nakamura’s
primary research fields include synthetic organic chemistry, organometallic
chemistry, organofunctional material and small molecule imaging. He is world
class synthetic organic chemist with vast original research.
