The State Key Laboratory of Elemento-Organic Chemistry held the 2018 Annual Academic Symposium and the Fifth Meeting of the Seventh Academic Committee in Tianjin from October 20 to 21, 2018.Chairman of the academic committee Academician Jinpei Cheng, Academician Lihe Zhang, Zhengming Li, Zhenhe Tong, Naizheng Huang, Guoqiang Lin, Xuhong Qian, Zhenfeng Xi; Prof. Yu Liu, Zhen Xi, Xiaoqing Zhu, Chunming Cui and vice presidents of Nankai University Jingjun Xu and Jing Li attended the event. Nearly 300 audience including guest researchers, permanent researchers and graduate students from the Key Laboratory attended this annual academic event.
The opening ceremony of the meeting on the October 20 was presided over by Prof. Guangxin Liang, the deputy director of the SKLEOC. Then Prof. Chunming Cui, the director of the SKLEOC, gave a report on the work of the SKLEOC. Director Cui reported the Key Laboratory's work and construction points in various aspects in the past year with a humorous conversation, which was highly recognized by the guests. In the subsequent academic report session, Prof. Motomu Kanai from the University of Tokyo, Academician Zuowei Xie from the Chinese University of Hong Kong, and Prof. Yingjin Yuan from Tianjin University gave special lectures. Sanzhong Luo from Tsinghua University, Zhenlei Song from Sichuan University, prof. Xianhe Bu and researcher Mengchun Ye, permanent researchers of the Key Laboratory, gave invited reports to make a detailed introduction to their respective work in recent years respectively. The report of this academic conference not only involved traditional organic chemistry, but also includes the cutting-edge progress of interdisciplinary. The academic atmosphere was strong, which greatly expanded the scientific vision of the teachers and students.
In the poster presentation session, 17 outstanding works from 47 posters was selected and won the poster awards by academic committee composed of academician Naizheng Huang, Zhenhe Tong, Guoqiang Lin, Lihe Zhang, Zuowei Xie and prof. Yingjin Yuan, Sanzhong Luo and Zhenlei Song. Academician Lihe Zhang, Zhengming Li, Naizheng Huang, Zhenhe Tong, Guoqiang Lin and Zuowei Xie gave the honorary certificate of Excellent Poster Award to the 17 excellent poster award winners as the award-giving guests. In addition to this certificate, the Key Laboratory also awarded a prize of 1,000 yuan to each award-winning student as encouragement. The poster presentation and awards session greatly enhanced the teacher-student exchanges at the annual academic conference. The poster was displayed and discussed enthusiastically. The experts also gave many suggestions and valuable scientific research experience to the younger students and researchers.
On the morning of the October 21, the fifth meeting of the seventh academic committee of the Key Laboratory hosted by Academician Jinpei Cheng, the chairman of the academic committee, was held. Academician Zhengming Li, advisory member of the academic committee, academician Zhenhe Tong, Naizheng Huang, Guoqiang Lin, Xuhong Qian, Zhenfeng Xi, Prof. Yu Liu, Zhen Xi, Xiaoqing Zhu, Chunming Cui and professor Jingjun Xu and Jing Li, vice presidents of Nankai University attended the meeting. On behalf of Nankai University, the two vice presidents visited the academic committee members and thanked the experts for their strong support to Nankai University and the Key Laboratory. The meeting reviewed the 2018 Open-Fund applications and discussed the evaluation of LeyLaboratories in 2019. In the end, it also proposed valuable comments and suggestions that the development and construction of Key Laboratories and more importantly, the leading role that Key Laboratories can play in the double-class construction of Nankai University.
