On March 25, 2025, Elsevier officially released the list of Highly Cited Chinese Researchers in 2024. Eight scholars from the State Key Laboratory of Elemento-organic Chemistry, Xianhe Bu, Gong Chen, Yongsheng Chen, Liangnian He, Yu Liu, Qingmin Wang, Qilin Zhou, and Shoufei Zhu (listed in alphabetical order by surname) were selected as highly cited researchers in the field of Chemistry.
The Elsevier list of Highly Cited Chinese Researchers uses Scopus, a globally authoritative citation and indexing database, as the statistical source for research achievements of Chinese scholars. The methodology was developed by Shanghai Soft Science Education Information Consulting Co., Ltd.
The list in 2024 features a total of 6,388 scholars from 547 universities, enterprises, and research institutions, covering 83 first-level disciplines across 10 major academic fields defined by the Ministry of Education. Among the selected scholars, Chemistry had the highest number of highly cited researchers with 501 individuals. Other disciplines such as Biology, Materials Science and Engineering, Clinical Medicine, Computer Science and Technology, and Physics each had over 200 highly cited scholars.
