From April 20 to 21, 2024, the 5th Beijing-Tianjin Graduate Academic Seminar on Organic Chemistry was held successfully in Nankai University. The seminar was hosted by Nankai University, and about 300 students from Tsinghua University, Peking University, Institute of chemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences gathered to discuss hot topics in the field of organic chemistry.
On the afternoon of April 20, a friendly football match was held before the conference, which fully demonstrated the youthful vitality of graduate students. In the final game, Team of Nankai University won the championship of 3-2 against the team of Tsinghua University, and the team of Peking University and the team of Institute of Chemistry were tied for the third place.
On April 21, academic exchanges of seminar were held. The seminar was divided into two types exchanges: oral presentation and poster presentation. The oral presentation section hosted by the graduate students. 16 students including Yuchun Xu, Zhicheng Bao, Xueli Wang, Ken Chen from Peking University, Shenhao Chen, Yi Peng, Jianqing Qi, Zeyu Zhang from Tsinghua University, Ying Huang, Mengjie Gu, Jiaqing Lu, Jiafen Lin from Beijing Institute of Chemistry, and Peng He, Chaorui Ma, XiaoMing Xu, Tianze Zhang from Nankai University made wonderful academic reports and had in-depth exchanges and discussions with the teachers and students in the seminar. The teachers put forward valuable suggestions for the students' problems in their study and work. A total of 55 graduate students from four units participated in the poster presentation section. This seminar well demonstrated the style of the graduate students of the participating units, and provided a good platform for the academic exchange and growth of graduate students in Beijing and Tianjin. Finally, through the voting of the participating teachers of various units, 8 excellent reporter awards and 12 excellent poster presentation awards were selected.
At last, Chao Chen from Tsinghua University made a concluding speech on behalf of the next organizer. He pointed out that the Beijing-Tianjin Graduate Academic Seminar on Organic Chemistry had greatly promoted the cultivation of graduate students in organic chemistry. Next year, the conference mode will continue to be followed and improved in order to promote the cultivation of graduate students in organic chemistry in four units.
