CCS·The 22nd National Conference on Organometallic Chemistry of China was successfully held in Tianjin from August 18th to 21st. The conference was hosted by Nankai University and the Organic Chemistry Discipline Committee of the Chinese Chemical Society, organized by the State Key Laboratory of Elemento-organic Chemistry (Nankai University), and co-organized by the School of Chemistry of Nankai University, Frontiers Science Center for New Organic Matter of Nankai University, and Shanghai Institute of Organic Chemistry of Chinese Academy of Sciences.
Academician Shengming Ma of Fudan University, Academician Xiaoming Feng of Sichuan University, Academician Zuowei Xie of South University of Science and Technology, Academician Yong Tang of Shanghai Institute of Organic Chemistry of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Academician Shuli You of Shanghai Institute of Organic Chemistry of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Academician Qilin Zhou of Nankai University, Academician Jun Chen, vice president of Nankai University, and more than 1000 representatives from 100 universities and institutes attended the conference. The opening ceremony was presided over by Prof. Chunming Cui, chairman of the conference and director of the Key Laboratory.
President Jun Chen welcomed the attending experts, scholars, students, and guests at the opening ceremony, and briefly introduced Nankai University and Nankai Chemistry to the attendees. He said that the Key Laboratory was now facing restructuring under the new opportunities and challenges, and it was important to coordinate the development of education, technology and talents, and we should carry the spirits of scientists, target the frontiers of international development of organometallic chemistry, and serve the country's major needs.
Academician Ma, the director of the academic committee of the conference, congratulated the successful convening of the conference. He pointed out that developing new reagents, reactions, and theories was the central task in the field of organometallic chemistry. He hoped all attendees can fully utilize the conference for communication and vigorously promote innovative research in the field of organometallic chemistry.
This conference received more than 237 conference papers and arranged 8 conference presentations, 41 invitation presentations, 15 oral presentations, and 10 flash-presentations. The conference also arranged for two reports on the Huang Yaozeng Organometallic Chemistry Award and two reports on the Youth Award. More than 100 young scholars, postdoctoral fellows, and graduate students from all over the country showcased their latest research results through posters. And a total of 20 outstanding poster awards were selected.
This conference presented the 10th Huang Yaozeng Organometallic Chemistry Award of the Chinese Chemical Society. Prof. John F. Hartwig of the University of California and Academician Shuli You won the Organometallic Chemistry Award; associate professor Liu Liu of Southern University of Science and Technology and Prof. Hang Shi of Xihu University were awarded the Huang Yaozeng Youth Award of Organometallic Chemistry. Qinghua Fan, vice chairman and general secretary of the Chinese Chemical Society, and three members of the Huang Yaozeng Foundation, Academician Qilin Zhou, Academician Shengming Ma, and Academician Zuowei Xie presented awards to the winners.
The National Conference on Organometallic Chemistry is one of the most important academic conferences in the field of organic chemistry in China. The first conference was hosted by the Chinese Chemical Society and held in Dalian in 1980, and it is held every two years which has been successfully held for 21 consecutive sessions.
