The 6th International Conference on Organometallics and Catalysis (OM&CAT-6) and the 2024 International Conference on Industry-University Research Cooperation were held in Tianjin from August 15th to 18th. The meeting was organized by the State Key Laboratory of Elemento-organic Chemistry (Nankai University), and co-organized by the School of Chemistry of Nankai University and the Frontiers Science Center for New Organic Matter of Nankai University. Academician Kuiling Ding, president of Shanghai Jiaotong University, Academician Zuowei Xie of South University of Science and Technology, Academician Zhenfeng Xi, of Peking University, Academician Lizhu Wu, deputy director of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, Academician Yong Tang, director of the Shanghai Institute of Organic Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Academician Qilin Zhou, of Nankai University, and Prof. Shoufei Zhu, vice president of Nankai University, attended the opening ceremony. The purpose of this conference is to provide an international exchange platform for top researchers at home and abroad to showcase and discuss the latest discoveries in the fields of organometallics and catalysis.
Prof. Zhu introduced the development history of chemistry discipline of Nankai University and achievements made in recent years. He noted that the Key Laboratory not only has advanced resources as an important platform for chemistry development, but also continued to explore new fields and make new progress. And he hoped this conference can inherit the excellent traditions of previous conferences and promoted the researches of organometallics and catalysis to reach a new level.
Prof. Zhou, the chairman of the conference, welcomed and thanked sincerely the guests, teachers, and students for their attendance. Then, he introduced the history and inheritance of the International Conference on Organometallics and Catalysis to the attendees.
This conference focused on the international cutting-edge progress in organometallics and catalysis, which attracted more than 300 experts, scholars, and graduate representatives from well-known universities and institutions at home and abroad, including Zelensky Institute of Organic Chemistry of Russian Academy of Sciences, Korean Academy of Science and Technology, Yonsei University of Korea, University of Ottawa, Columbia University, Scripps Research Institute in the United States, University of Rochester, Institute of Physical Chemistry in Japan, Kyoto University, Osaka University, King Abdullah University of Science and Technology, National University of Singapore, University of Padua, University of Wuerzburg, Indian Institute of Technology, Indian Institute of Biomedical Research, Tsinghua University, Peking University, Fudan University, and Chinese University of Hong Kong, exc. 30 speakers presented excellent academic reports and 57 representatives showed their posters in the conference and a total of 11 outstanding poster awards were selected.
The International Conference on Organometallics and Catalysis was launched in 2012 and is held every two years, and it has been successfully held in Beijing (2012), Nara (2014), Seoul (2016), Taipei (2018), and Hong Kong (2022), respectively. This conference has become an important international event in the field of organometallics and catalysis.
