The 4th Beijing-Tianjin Organic Chemistry Graduate Academic Seminar was successfully held in the Yanqi Lake Campus of the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences from April 8 to 9, 2023. This meeting was organized by the Institute of Chemistry of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and excellent students from Tsinghua University, Peking University, Institute of Chemistry of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Nankai University gathered to discuss hot topics in the field of organic chemistry. More than 60 teachers and students attended the meeting under the guidance of director Chunming Cui, professor Jianhua Xie and professor Dongbing Zhao of SKLEOC of Nankai University. On the basis of the original two academic communication methods of oral presentation and wall newspaper display, this seminar has added a football match which fully showcasing the youthful vitality of graduate students.

In the football match on the afternoon of April 8th, the Key-laboratory played against the team of Tsinghua University. In the first half of the match, the players actively defended and drew 0-0 with Tsinghua team. In the second half, we changed our strategy and actively attacked, but the opponent's defense was tight and we ultimately lost to Tsinghua team. In addition, our women's football team also performed outstandingly, showing their youthful and vitality. In the end, the Key-Laboratory football team won the Excellent Organization Award, which greatly inspired the students' enthusiasm for sports.

In the academic exchange part, four students from the Key-Laboratory, Jiabin Pan, Yazhou Ding, Cheng Chen and Ming Zhang gave wonderful oral presentations, and shared their research achievements, difficulties encountered in the scientific research process and problem-solving ideas. Another 17 students participated in the wall newspaper display and had discussions with the attending teachers and students. The seminar ultimately selected 8 excellent oral report awards and 16 excellent wall newspaper awards. Among them, two students from the Key Laboratory, Jiabin Pan and Yazhou Ding won the Excellent Oral Report Award, while four students, including Chengwen Li, Xiaoming Xu, Wentao Li and Sun Qikai won the Excellent Wall Paper Award.

Finally, Director Cui gave a summary speech on behalf of the next organizers, pointing out that the Beijing-Tianjin Organic Chemistry Graduate Academic Seminar had greatly promoted the cultivation of organic chemistry graduate students. This seminar, chaired and participated by students throughout the process, has increased the research enthusiasm of graduate students and provided them with more learning opportunities. Next year, Nankai University will host the conference and we will continue to follow and improve the conference mode and actively promote the cultivation of organic chemistry graduate students of four units.
