On November 12, Clarivate released its 2025 Highly Cited Researchers list, recognizing the world’s most influential scientists across universities, research institutions, and commercial organizations whose work has had a significant impact in their respective fields. Five distinguished scholars from the State Key Laboratory of Elemento-Organic Chemistry—Academician Xian-He Bu, Prof. YongSheng Chen, Prof. XiangJian Wan, Prof. YongSheng Liu, and Prof. Qian Peng—have been honored in the cross-field category of this prestigious list.

Clarivate’s Highly Cited Researchers list is published annually to highlight natural and social scientists who have made exceptional contributions to their disciplines with lasting global influence. The bibliometrics experts and data scientists at Clarivate’s Institute for Scientific Information (ISI) rigorously select and evaluate candidates through quantitative citation analysis from the Web of Science Core Collection supplemented by qualitative assessment. In total, 6,868 researchers (representing 7,131 instances*) from over 1,300 institutions across 60 countries and regions earned inclusion in the 2025 list.
