
Recently, the 2025 National Glycobiology Conference & the 6th National Glycochemistry Conference were held in Chengdu, Sichuan Province, China. During the opening ceremony, the organizing committee presented the 2025 Chinese Chemical Society (CCS) Glycochemistry Award and the Outstanding Paper Award for Glycoconjugates.Prof. Gong Chen was honored with the 2025 CCS Glycochemistry Contribution Award. Gong Chen, Professor and Doctoral Advisor, National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars Recipient, Leading Talent of the Ministry of Science and Technology, Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry (FRSC). Prof. Chen obtained his B.S. from the Department of Chemistry, Nanjing University in 1998 and Ph.D. from the Department of Chemistry, Columbia University USA in 2004, followed by postdoctoral research at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, USA. (2005-2008). He began his independent career as Assistant Professor at Pennsylvania State University (2008), earning tenure as Associate Professor in 2014. Since 2015, he has been working full-time at the State Key Laboratory of Elemento-Organic Chemistry, Nankai University, and has held the position of Hongqin Endowed Professor since 2023. Professor Chen Gong's research group mainly focuses on the organic synthesis of complex glycopeptide compounds and their chemical biology. Since starting his independent research career, he has published more than 130 academic papers in various academic journals. He has successively received awards and support including the US-NSF CAREER Award, Amgen Young Investigator Award, WuXi AppTec Life Chemistry Research Scholar Award, Huaxia Award of the Chinese Peptide International Conference, Asian Special Lectureship of the Chemical Society of Japan, and CCS Glycoscience Contribution Award. Currently, he serves as the Executive Editor of the journal Organic Letters.
The Chinese Chemical Society Glycochemistry Contribution Award honors outstanding scholars who have achieved systematic and innovative research results in the field of glycochemistry and made significant contributions to the advancement of glycochemistry in China.
