On 10th June, 2025, the signing ceremony between Nankai University and Institute of Seawater Desalination and Multipurpose Utilization, Ministry of Natural Resources (Tianjin) (hereinafter abbreviated to ISDMU) was held in the ISDMU. Baijiang Jin, executive vice minister of science and technology research department of Nankai University, Chunming Cui, director of State Key Laboratory of Elemento-organic Chemistry (hereinafter abbreviated to Key Laboratory), Mengchun Ye, deputy director of the Key Laboratory, Wenxi Xiang, director of the ISDMU, Qiufeng Zhang, deputy director of the ISDMU, and Shenghui Wang, deputy director of the ISDMU, attended the signing ceremony.

Baijiang Jin introduced the development history, team composition and representative research achievements of the Key Laboratory, and believed that the whole-chain innovation mode of “Theoretical Breakthrough of Universities & Engineering Landing of Research Institutes” constructed by the two sides is an inevitable choice of complementing advantages and seeking common development of each other. He hoped that the two sides will strengthen the top-level design, expand the breadth and depth of cooperation, and expected to incubate enterprises to settle in Tiankai Higher Education Innovation Park in the future.

Wenxi Xiang introduced the future development strategy of the ISDMU, and expected to work with Nankai University with the cooperation agreement as a starting point, and put into practice of the advantages of “Confidence in Serving the Market, Focusing on Scientific Research and Accumulation” of ISDMU, and finally meet the national needs to strengthen the combination of the Industry-University-Research, and promote the cooperation between the two sides to go deeper and more practical.

At the ceremony, Mengchun Ye and Qiufeng Zhang signed the agreement on behalf of both parties.

According to the agreement, relying on Nankai University, the Key Laboratory and ISDMU will aim at the key scientific issues and R & D needs on new materials, new energy field, to jointly carry out technology development, talents cultivation, and the establishment of Industry-University-Research cooperation entities and other forms of substantive cooperation, and promote the application and transformation of new nano-materials, high-performance polymer materials.

The Institute of Seawater Desalination and Multipurpose Utilization, Ministry of Natural Resources (Tianjin), (hereinafter abbreviated to ISDMU) is the only non-profit state level research organization in China in seawater desalination and utilization technologies area. “National Quality Supervision and Inspection Center for Sea & Brackish Utilization Products”, “National Engineering Technology Research Center of seawater utilization”, “National and Local Joint Engineering Laboratory of Seawater Desalination Technology”, “Seawater desalination and multipurpose utilization branch of National committee for marine technology standardization”, “Supervision & Inspection Center for Liquid Separation Membrane Product of the Membrane Industry Association of China”, “IORA RCSTT Regional Coordination Center for Desalination Technologies” and ”Asia-Pacific Desalination Association secretariat ”, are affiliated to ISDMU.
