The 1st Chinese Conference on Hypervalent Iodine was
held at Nankai University from March 9th-10th of 2019.
This conference was jointly organized by Prof. Gong Chen and Prof. Chi Zhang
and sponsored by the SKLEOC. The symposium invited globally well-established
chemists in the field of hypervalent iodine chemistry, featuring a total of 29
high-quality lectures.
The event was at the year of the 100th anniversary of Nankai University. On the opening ceremony, Prof. Gong Chen
showed warm welcome to all the attendees.
The theme of the conference was hypervalent iodine chemistry, in
particular the development of novel hypervalent iodine reagents and the
discovery of novel reactivities, the application of hypervalent iodine reagents
in asymmetric synthesis and natural product synthesis. The conference
demonstrated the cutting-edge science of modern hypervalent iodine chemistry.
Invited speakers fully exchanged their ideas on the future development of the
field.
The conference served to strengthen collaborations among
chemists of the hypervalent iodine field. We believe this conference would benefit
the future advances of the field in terms of academic achievements as well as
industrial utilizations.
On the closing ceremony, Prof. Chi Zhang briefly reviewed the history of hypervalent iodine chemistry in China. He then showed gratitude to all invited speakers of the symposium, the support of the SKLEOC and the college of chemistry. He concluded by looking forward to the 2nd Chinese Conference on Hypervalent Iodine Chemistry.
