Brief Introduction:

Prof. Xinyuan Liu obtained his bachelor’s degree from Anhui Normal University. He then obtained his M.S. degree in 2004 as part of the joint-program of Anhui Normal University and the Shanghai Institute of Organic Chemistry (SIOC) under the supervision of Prof. Shaowu Wang and Prof. Shizheng Zhu. He further got his Ph.D. degree in 2010 from Hong Kong University under the supervision of Prof. Che Chi-Ming. From 2010-2012, he conducted postdoctoral research at Hong Kong University and the Scripps Research Institute. He joined the chemistry department of the Southern University of Science and Technology in 2012, and was promoted to full professor with tenure in 2018.

He was awarded outstanding postgraduate of Hong Kong University (2011), Type B Talent of Shenzhen Peafowls Project for Abroad Talents (2013), Distinguished Lectureship Award of the Japan Chemistry Society (2017), National Science Fund for Excellent Young Scholars (2017), Chang Jiang Scholarship of the Ministry of Education (2018).

His primary research circles around the “asymmetric reactions involving radicals”. He has published 46 papers on distinguished journals such as Science Advances, Chem, Nature Communcations, Journal of the American Chemistry Society and Angewandte Chemie. He was also invited speaker for over 15 international symposiums.
